CAMRA membership falls to an eight-year low
The Brief
CAMRA is facing a difficult period, with its membership falling to an eight-year low and the organisation reporting a pre-tax loss of almost £800,000 for the year to November 2025.
The organisation has also cancelled the Great British Beer Festival and undergone restructuring, while continuing to argue that the UK's beer market makes it difficult for independent breweries to compete for pub space.
Why it matters
CAMRA's difficulties are about more than one organisation. They come at a time when cask beer is facing challenges around sales, consumer habits and access to pubs, while independent breweries continue to argue that the market isn't providing enough genuine choice.
