BeerX: The UK’s Biggest Beer Industry Event Explained

What Is BeerX?
If you’re involved in the UK beer industry, BeerX is one event you probably already know about.
Organised by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates, BeerX has become the largest beer and brewing trade show in the UK.
Last year’s event welcomed over 3,500 industry professionals, making it the biggest gathering of independent brewers, suppliers and retailers in the country.
And the event continues to grow.

What Happens at BeerX?
BeerX isn’t just a trade show.
It’s a full industry conference featuring:
- Educational seminars
- Expert panels
- Tutored tastings
- Networking events
- Industry awards
According to Neil Walker, this year’s event features the most packed programme in BeerX history, with multiple stages and expanded tasting sessions.
The tasting theatre alone now seats 100 people, making it one of the largest guided beer tasting sessions in the UK.

Key Highlights from This Year’s Event
Some of the standout sessions include:
Beer Style History and Tasting
Beer educator Annabel Smith will explore the history of classic British beer styles while leading a guided tasting.
The State of Beer Media
Industry voices including Matt Curtis will discuss how beer journalism, podcasts and digital media are evolving.
Beer and Music Pairing
Beer writer Pete Brown returns with his hugely popular beer and music pairing session, matching independent beers with carefully selected tracks.
The Indie Beer Awards Go National
Another major milestone for this year’s event is the expansion of the Indie Beer Awards.
For the first time, winners will receive automatic entry into the World Beer Cup, one of the most prestigious global brewing competitions.
That means UK independent breweries could soon be competing and winning on the world stage.
Why BeerX Matters for Independent Brewers
BeerX isn’t just a celebration.
It’s a place where brewers can:
- Learn from industry experts
- Discover new suppliers
- Explore investment opportunities
- Promote their beers
It also helps strengthen the independent brewing community.
As Neil Walker explained during the podcast, events like BeerX help ensure independent breweries have a stronger voice within the wider beer industry.
